Nothing More Important than Vision
It was like windows opened up - and she could see again.
That is how Marina Klingaman felt as she opened her eyes for the first time following upper eyelid surgery by Dr. Emilio M. Justo at the Arizona Eye Institute & Cosmetic Laser Center.
"Before, doctors kept telling me no - that it was a cosmetic procedure," she said. "I believed them and didn't do anything for 10 years."
Then at an appointment with Dr. Justo, she was thrilled to learn she actually was not only a perfect candidate for the surgery, but for insurance coverage through her carrier.
"I was missing half of what was going on in life," Marina says. "I was really getting uncomfortable. Now I feel more alive, I see things in a different way.
Because her right eye has been her only good one since birth, the peripheral vision in that eye is even more important, she adds. The surgery was an easy procedure, made even easier with music to distract her, she said. "I wanted to start tapping my feet, but figured I better just relax."
"I didn't do the surgery for me to look better. I want to see better. There is nothing more important than vision."
